Charlene Forde-SmithRESEARCH ASSISTANT
Charlene is a first year MSW student at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto. She previously completed a BA in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behavioural Studies with a specialization in Mental Health and has an MSc in Psychology from McMaster University. During her master's program, Charlene conducted research exploring human perception within wellness checks and the courtroom, providing her with invaluable insights into the dynamics of discrimination and bias within these settings. In addition, Charlene contributed to the development and implementation of wellness projects tailored to the needs of individuals within the Black diaspora.
In her professional endeavors, Charlene has supported patients and families navigating barriers within the Ontario healthcare system. Collaborating within inter-professional teams, she has cultivated experience working with individuals with mental health concerns across community, school board, and private practice settings. This multidimensional background equips Charlene with a nuanced understanding of the complexities within community mental health and healthcare, driving her passion for advocacy and inclusivity within the field. |
